Half Missing
Just because something could be worse
Doesn’t mean it’s right
Even though nothing’s really wrong
I can’t sleep at night
I’ve tried too many years
To end up here
With nothing to show
And no one to hold
There’s all I ever wanted
And all I’ve gotten instead
It’s not so bad
It’s just that half is missing
Something is broken just enough
Nothing else can run
Split it wide open, look inside
For the smoking gun
Did I want it too much
Or not enough
It comes out the same
With no one to blame
It’s not so bad
It’s just that half is missing
Fairytale endings all aside
Shouldn’t there be more
Than just pretending that what you got
Is what you went looking for
There’s no turning the clock
Back to the start
So whisper goodbye
To all the dreams that died
Doesn’t mean it’s right
Even though nothing’s really wrong
I can’t sleep at night
I’ve tried too many years
To end up here
With nothing to show
And no one to hold
There’s all I ever wanted
And all I’ve gotten instead
It’s not so bad
It’s just that half is missing
Something is broken just enough
Nothing else can run
Split it wide open, look inside
For the smoking gun
Did I want it too much
Or not enough
It comes out the same
With no one to blame
It’s not so bad
It’s just that half is missing
Fairytale endings all aside
Shouldn’t there be more
Than just pretending that what you got
Is what you went looking for
There’s no turning the clock
Back to the start
So whisper goodbye
To all the dreams that died
